The fan behind the guides

Alex James
Founder, Sports Venue Guides ยท Based in the UK
I'm a sports fan based in the UK who has spent years attending some of the biggest events in world sport โ the Ryder Cup, The Open Championship, World Cup football, Premier League matches across England, the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, Rugby World Cup, ski racing, the Olympics, and cricket grounds throughout the UK.
I've had some of the best days of my life at sports events. I've also had some of the worst โ showing up at the wrong gate, paying twice as much for parking as I needed to, missing the atmosphere because I didn't know where the fans actually go before a game, or just being completely unprepared for how a venue works.
The difference between a great day and a frustrating one almost always comes down to preparation โ and that's exactly the gap Sports Venue Guides is built to close.
When you're planning a trip to a new stadium or arena, the information you actually need โ where to park, which pub is away-fan friendly, how early to arrive, which hotel is closest, whether the official car park sells out three hours before kickoff โ is scattered across Reddit threads, outdated forum posts, and club websites that haven't been updated since 2019.
I built Sports Venue Guides because I wanted a single place where a fan could land and have everything they needed to plan a successful day out โ tickets, hotels, transport, parking, the hidden gems and the things the club website will never tell you.
The guides cover venues across rugby union, football, cricket, the Olympics, golf, skiing and more โ across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and beyond. The goal is simple: help fans spend less time confused and more time enjoying the sport.
Every guide is built around the questions a real fan asks when planning a trip โ not just capacity and opening year. You'll find verified hotel distances with walking times, parking options with prices (and notes on when they actually fill up), pub guides that flag which venues are welcoming to away fans, and transport routes with real journey times from city centre.
The information is kept as current as possible. Prices change, venues close, operators change hands โ I'd rather tell you when something was last verified than pretend the internet is always up to date.
Found something out of date? Know a hidden gem near a venue that should be on the site? Have a question about a venue I've covered? I'd genuinely love to hear from you.
