Chase Center stands as San Francisco's premier sports and entertainment destination — a state-of-the-art arena in the Mission Bay neighbourhood that opened on September 6, 2019, with a landmark concert by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony, and has rapidly established itself as one of the NBA's finest and most technologically advanced venues. The arena serves as the home of the Golden State Warriors and, from 2025, the Golden State Valkyries of the WNBA. Privately financed at a cost of $1.4 billion by Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, Chase Center represented the first major sports venue built in San Francisco since 1999 and the Warriors' return to the city proper after 47 years at Oakland Arena. Located at 1 Warriors Way at the corner of 3rd and 16th Streets in Mission Bay, the arena is directly served by the San Francisco Muni T Third Street light rail at the UCSF/Chase Center Station. San Francisco Bay Ferry offers Warriors game-night service from Jack London Square in Oakland ($19.20 round-trip) and Larkspur in Marin County ($14 one-way), both landing at Pier 48½ — a half-mile walk from the arena. Caltrain from the Peninsula and South Bay terminates at 4th and King Streets, a 10-15 minute walk. The arena is part of the 11-acre Thrive City development including parks, cafes, and public plazas along the Mission Bay waterfront. Chase Center features approximately 950 on-site parking spaces — extremely limited given its downtown San Francisco location, making public transit the universally recommended approach. The arena's food programme celebrates the Bay Area's exceptional culinary culture with Bakesale Betty (Oakland), Sam's Chowder House (Half Moon Bay), Big Nate's BBQ (named after Warriors legend Nate Thurmond), and Hot Dog Bills. All bags larger than 14"×14"×6" must be checked at Warriors Way; backpacks of any size are prohibited. Chase Center suites range from $10,000–$25,000 for high-demand Warriors games, reflecting San Francisco's extraordinary corporate demand.
Chase Center's origins trace to 2012, when Golden State Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber announced plans for a new privately financed arena in San Francisco to replace the ageing Oakland Arena. After an initial waterfront site proposal faced community opposition, the Mission Bay location was chosen and the arena broke ground on January 17, 2017. Built at a cost of $1.4 billion entirely without public financing, Chase Center was the first major sports venue built in San Francisco since 1999. The arena opened on September 6, 2019, with a concert by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony — an iconic opening that fused the city's rock music heritage with its sports culture. The Warriors had played in Oakland from 1971 to 2019 (with a brief San Jose interlude in 1996-97), and the move back across the Bay was not without controversy: many Oakland fans felt betrayed by the departure. Chase Center immediately hosted NBA Finals action, with the Warriors reaching the 2019 Finals before losing to Toronto. The 2022 NBA Championship — the Warriors' seventh title overall and fourth of the Curry era — remains the arena's defining sporting moment. From 2025, the Golden State Valkyries WNBA team joined the Warriors as a co-tenant.
Chase Center on Warriors game nights is among the most energetic and sophisticated arenas in the NBA — the Bay Area's tech-industry fanbase is knowledgeable, passionate, and accustomed to watching the league's finest basketball. The Thrive City outdoor plaza creates a vibrant pre-game gathering environment with bay views and waterfront bars. Inside, the Stephen Curry three-point legacy reverberates through every aspect of the game-day experience. The ferry from Oakland or Marin is the most memorable approach on a clear Bay Area evening. For peak atmosphere: Warriors-Lakers, Warriors-Celtics, and any Warriors playoff home game generate the loudest and most electric Chase Center environments.

On event nights, SFMTA runs additional special event trains every 10 minutes between Chinatown-Rose Pak Station and UCSF/Chase Center with "S Shuttle Mission Bay" headboards. From Powell Street Station: transfer at Union Square/Market Street to the S Shuttle. From the 16th St Mission BART Station: take the 78X 16th Street Arena Express for direct service to Chase Center. From downtown: the T Third or S Shuttle from Market Street. BART riders transfer to Muni at Embarcadero Station.

Both routes drop off at Pier 48½, approximately a half-mile north of Chase Center — a pleasant waterfront walk. The ferry experience is one of the most scenic and memorable ways to arrive at Chase Center. Ferry service is seasonal and tied to game schedules — check the San Francisco Bay Ferry website for the Warriors game schedule and ticketing.

The Warriors Way Garage is the primary on-site facility; additional parking at the Mission Bay Parking Garage and UCSF structures. Parking costs $30–$60 depending on proximity and event. A digital parking pass must be presented at the gate. All cars in the Chase Center Garage are screened by a bomb-sniffing dog. Rideshare drop-off zones are designated on Warriors Way.
